AdSense is one of the most popular ways used by internet marketers today to make money online. AdSense is mostly used in blogs to generate revenue, if not for anything else, because it is one of the simplest way to generate revenue from you blog or website.
What is AdSense? It is a very lucrative program from Google where online marketers agree to place advertisements on their blog pages and websites and get compensated when their blog visitors and web visitors click on the advertisements.
To start using AdSense to make money online, you will need to have a blog or web site. If that is in order, you then need to submit your website’s URL to Google, together with some other useful information so you can be considered for participation in the AdSense program.
After verification and approval of your blog, you will be provided with a code that you simply copy and paste where you want the advertisements to be displayed on your webpage or blog page. That is all you will have to do on your part. The rest is for Google to serve region-appropriate or niche-appropriate advertisements every time someone visits your blog.
Many a times you will find that the advertisements placed on the blogs are very closely related to the content on the pages. This is made possible because Google scans your pages and the search engine bots would have crawled the pages prior to placing the advertisements so as to determine the theme and niche of the blog in order to serve content-appropriate advertisements and make user-experience satisfactory.
This is not to say that you have no say when it comes to the advertisements placed on your blog. No, you can place restrictions on what should appear or not on your pages. For instance, you may specify that you do not want any adult advertisement to appear on your pages and subsequently Google will filter everything that pertains to adult stuff. You can also stop a competitor from advertising on your pages.
Closely related to Google AdSense is selling your advertisement spaces to generate revenue from your blog. While placement of advertisements tend to be a little difficult compared to using Google AdSense, the payout is always more beneficial to the webmaster. This is because in most cases advertisements will be paid for in advance before they are placed on the blog unlike the Google AdSense where you get paid only after a click is made. Google pays you around the 20th every month. You then get paid what you’ve earned in the previous month.
It really boils down to what you want, whether it is Google AdSense or placed advertisements. One thing though that you should know is that advertisers will only be interested in advertising space on your blog if you have good traffic and good following. To get followers and repeat visitors, you need informative and well written content which is updated on a regular basis. Work on that and you will never regret why you ever chose blogging for a living.
