Tips on how to make searching for car insurance bearable

If you ask anyone who owns a car what the number one thing that they hate about owning a car I would safely bet my house on them saying that the worst thing is when they have to go and secure car insurance. Even though I have never had to do it for myself (I don’t drive) I have had the misfortune to have to do it for friends and family over the years.

Auto insurance is a long drawn out horrible process, especially if you happen to be of a certain age or work in a certain profession, why do entertainers can charged more? I can understand young drivers being charged more but why are drivers over 50 with years of experience behind the wheel?

There are a couple of things you can do to help make the process a little bit more bearable:

Choose your car – I don’t know if you are aware of this but the kind of car you have will determine how much more you must pay to be insured.

Don’t go with the first offer you get – You would be amazed at how many people want this to be over as quickly as possible and will take the first offer they come across, it is a much better idea to check out a selection of companies and then see what offer you like, you might save quite a few quid.

Secure your car – you will notice a better deal if you have good security installed in your car, you can save a good 5% just by having decent security features.

Don’t not put too much mileage – Thee more miles you put on your form will also increase your price so it is always a good idea to put as low amount as possible.

Go local – I find it is always a good idea to go with a company in your area, so if you live in London or Hartford then go with a company that operates out of London or Hartford.

Watch how many people you include – The more people you include on your insurance the higher it will be, do you really need to put the entire family on it right now?

There are many other tips and tricks to help you get a better deal on your car insurance but hopefully these will help you out when the dreaded time comes around to renew.
