Grab Those RSS Subscribers With These 3 Free Subscription Plugins

We all want to be the first to know what is going on with our favourite web sites, and the best way to do this is to subscribe to a web site’s RSS feed. There are a few plugins that will allow a reader to sign up their email address and receive emails every time an article is published.

Feedburner Email Subscription

What this plugin does is place a very simple subscription box into your sidebar or footer area. The configurations can be done easily from the widget area. There is an option for you to customise the CSS for those of you that feel comfortable doing this.

WP Subscribe

This plugin is the subscription plugin of choice for us here. It offers a great looking design and you can easily change the text via the widget area. Changing the colours are possible, but to do this you will have to open up the plugin files and change the colour that way.

Elegant Subscription Popup

If a subscription box in your sidebar or footer is not the kind of thing you are looking for then maybe this pop-up offering could be the answer. It is easy to configure and an option to change the design and colours.

Beware though that this is a more aggressive form of gaining subscribers so don’t forget to limit how many times a visitor sees it.

Dying Medium?

Sadly, there are not many plugins that offer the option to gain RSS subscribers via Feedburner these days as they believe RSS is a dying medium, but millions of us are still happily using it today to be kept up to date with news and articles.
